Lets Tap into Some Water

Water is one of the best solution to any problem. Want clearer skin, want more energy, drink water! There are things you probably thought water wouldn’t do to your body; and that’s fine, I’m here to help you get a little more in depth into the benefits of water.

The most interesting part about water is, it’s free. It is a natural resource that you can access at any time of the day. Water can be found in your homes, jobs and even at schools. The truth is water is surrounded by you daily. Tap water is a better choice than bottled water, for many reasons, although most people think otherwise.

In fact, the federal government requires more rigorous and frequent safety testing and monitoring of municipal drinking water. Bottled of water is also thousands of times expensive than tap water. Compare $0.002 per gallon for most tap water to a range of $0.89 to $8.26 per gallon for bottled waters.

I also think the importance of water is not being advertised as much as it should be. Being a student at Florida A&M University, I notice that there are water fountains in almost every corner of the school, however, students prefer to pay money for a soda when they could’ve gotten water for free. Or see students and faculty buy a bottle of water, when a water fountain was close by.

The real question is why buy something that is a natural resource and is free of charge while also having the ability to transform your body and skin? Well that’s easy! Most people buy bottled of water because they think it’s much cleaner or healthier than tap water.

“I’m not a big fan of drinking water, but I know I have to drink it. I always buy water because it seems as though it is much safer than tap water.” said Amberly Williams, a recent graduate of FAMU.

Water has also been known to stop headaches and prevent cramps. Drinking Water Helps Maintain the Balance of Body Fluids. According to Savethewater.org, Your body is composed of about 60% water. The functions of these bodily fluids include digestion, absorption, circulation, creation of saliva, transportation of nutrients, and maintenance of body temperature.

It has been said that water has no taste, so that is why many people don’t drink it often. Many people want to be able to taste a flavor in a drink, and water doesn’t give them the flavor they desire. But some actually enjoy drinking water.

Take Alphonso Barber, a 4th year Broadcast Journalism major, who says all of his abilities are functioning at a better level since he has been drinking water more frequently.

“My body feels so much healthier when I actually drink water. I see a difference in my performance level vs me drinking soda and juice every day,” said Barber

So, the next time you are considering buying a soda or a bottle of water out of the vending machine, try drinking out of the water fountain or the faucet and save a few dollars.
