About Journey

Journey is Florida A&M University’s award-winning campus magazine produced by the student organization Journey. The magazine receives support from the School of Journalism & Graphic Communication (SJGC) and funding allocated by the Student Government Association of Florida A&M University.

Since 1984, Journey has delivered fresh and dynamic content through writing, graphic design photography, video and multimedia presentations to the students at Florida A&M University and to the Tallahassee community. Our fearless take on culture, art and current events encourages our readers to cultivate new ideas, cultural knowledge and personal style. Journey has received numerous awards that include being named “Best Student Publication” in the 2018 & 2016 Society of Professional Journalists Sunshine State Awards and being named one of the best college websites in the 2016 Southeast Journalism Conference “Best of the South.”

Journey publishes each semester in print and online, and also maintains active social media accounts. The magazine is a student-run organization that gives students a place to develop and practice skills related to journalism, social media, graphic design, photography, digital media production and public relations. Journey also welcomes students from other departments on campus to join the staff. The magazine provides numerous opportunities to students to hone leadership, communication and negotiation skills. The faculty advisor works with students to develop practical journalistic skills while adhering to ethical principles.
